    "After the Storm” Art Yarn

This handspun alpaca yarn is a one-of-a-kind creation. First, it begins with the sheared hair from my white Suri Alpaca named Candy. I skirt and comb the fiber so it is ready for blending. This mix is blended with Merino wool roving that is handdyed with a jewel rainbow tone. I also have some stellina added in for shine. I weigh the fibers then blend them on my Ashford blending board to create rolags. Finally, the rolags are handspun on my Lendrum spinning wheel. After setting the spin on the yarn with a wash, the skein is ready for a new owner. This yarn looks handspun with its thick and thin spots and other unique details.

I love being part of the entire process, from feeding the alpacas to washing the yarn for the final setting. I'm a bit of a yarn snob...I mean connoisseur ;-) and I like catering to other people who care about the use of actual animal fibers (no acrylics), the treatment of the animals and story of the farm, and the custom look that only comes from handspun art yarn.
